2009-10 back-to-back game results

During last week’s post about Chicago’s scheduleapocalypse, I mentioned that the Bulls play a league-high 23 sets of back-to-back games…just like last season. Here’s how the Bulls did in the second game of back-to-backs last season:

Overall record in back-to-backs:

@ IND 100-90
@ MIA 108-95
@ DAL 113-106
@ NJN 127-116 (2OT)

Here’s a list of the second night of back-to-backs the Bulls will play in 2010-11:

@ BOS
@ SAS
@ PHO
@ SAC
vs. HOU
vs. MIN
@ WAS
@ DET
vs. CLE
@ NJN
vs. BOS
vs. MIA
vs. CHA
vs. IND
vs. MIA
vs. NOH
vs. UTH
@ IND
@ ATL
@ MIL
vs. TOR
@ CLE
vs. NJN

Next season, the Bulls have 11 road games and 12 home games on the second night of back-to-backs, while facing 12 playoff teams and 11 non-playoff teams (although they play the Cavaliers twice, and I doubt they will be a playoff team this season).

Considering they almost went .500 in the second of B2Bs last season, it will be interesting to see how a much-improved Bulls team does.

A vast improvement can be expected, in my opinion. Reliable scoring has been our problem for a long time. We have a money player in Boozer and it will pick us up in a lot these areas. The Bulls have been a team, where we were tough to beat on the nights we were ‘on’ (because of our defense). On the nights we are not ‘on’, Boozer is going to provide a reliability we just haven’t witnessed. Master of the obvious, at your service. Again, a devoted marksman like Korver, is just a blessing. We had shooters with too many things on their minds: Gordon, Salmons & Hinrich. This offense is going to be a lot calmer and have a much more steady hand.

This stuff is from last yr who cares. OUr team is much better this yr. By the way yall hear Carmelo is wanting out of Denver??? OKay I know yall may say “not this again, we had hype to get KG or Kobe in 2007 and Lebron this summer and struck out both”. But hey you always try. I sure hope he doesn’t go to NY. I mean come on the Knicks outside of Amare just SUCK and have nothing to offer in a trade. Denver, we here in Chicago have a lot to offer. Bulls trade Luol Deng, James Johnson, Omar Asik, and that FIrst RD Draft Pick from Charlotte (which has potential lottery pick written all over it) for Carmelo. I hope they don’t want Taj instead of Asik but guys for Carmelo it may be worth it. Only guys on Bulls that are untouchable are ROse, Boozer, and Noah—and for at least this yr Brewer and Korver are untouchabe due to fact they just signed. If they do want Taj then throw in another 1st RD draft pick with Deng and JJ and that CHarlotte pick and with Carmelo they need to give us some mediocre PF type of player just so we can have some bodies. I mean dude we get Carmelo its:

    PG—Rose
    SG—Brewer
    SF—Carmelo
    PF—Boozer
    C—Noah
    BENCH
    PG—Watson
    SG—Bogans
    SF—Korver
    PF—Kurt Thomas
C/PF—Taj or Asik or none and just some other guy we get in the trade as a throw in.

That team has a BIG FOUR compared to Miami’s Big 3, and our bench would still be way better. Lets try to get this done Bulls.

PS—Carmelo will be much better here in Chicago since he will have Rose to set him up and take pressure off of Carmelo to have high volumes of ball handling.

Bulls will make the playoffs. This schedule might cost them a seed, but the NBA post season is a whole different season onto itself. Given the high expectations, I can’t see anyone complaining if we draw a better seeded team in the first round. This team is expected to make it to the eastern finals.

This Chicago team is totally ready to bring down those losers from Miami, not to mention lebron james, chris bosh, and dwayne [fade] will be wishing they all signed with a totally bigger market like the Windy City where Bulls fans have always been Bulls fans no matter how much the Bulls win or lose instead of signing with South Beach where totally idiotic and cowardly fans fill seats when the Heat are winning and have zero interest in showing up when they get their grills and tails thumped. GO BULLS!!!!!

hey i’m a hardcore Bulls fan like everyone on here, but let’s get real, they will NOT beat miami in the playoffs (if they happen to face off).

i agree fully with bulls4ever. but i’ve got one thing to say could someone please tell lebron to shut the bleep up! saying dan gilbert and all his doubters are his motivation to win a championship aside from gilbert, where was that so called motivation when he was in cleveland and thousands people doubted him! the dude is a choke artist always will be thats why pussed out and signed with two other fags! LBJOB blows donkey balls

I just want the Bulls to make the playoffs so we can see what they REALLY can do. Let’s not forget that if LeBron shoots like he did against Boston (consistently missing open jumpers) against us instead of the way he shot in the first round (consistently poking out Deng’s eye with his follow through), then the team we had last season sends Cleveland packing……I’m friggin EXCITED.

Apparently there is only one man whom we have to thank for these schedules…

    Dear Miami fan;

    NBA is 5 on 5, not 3 on 3.

    Good one JoeSez lol,

And don’t forget Miami, you guys still need solid role bench players to back our amazing super star friends in case they get hurt or if they get into foul trouble.

At least we will have solid backup players with: C.J Watson, K. Korver, Taj Gibson, Kurt Thomas, Omer Asik, Keith Bogans, James Johnson and hopefully Rafer Alston with Chris Richard to backup: Rose, Brewer, Deng, Boozer and Noah.

    GO BULLS!

@DJ, I would not count Omer Asik and James Johnson as solid back-up players yet. The potential is there for them, but not this year. Asik will play, but he will need to bulk up and build stamina before he can be effective as a primary back-up. Johnson needs to improve his defense and shooting to be considered a solid back-up player.

@Matt, let’s not forget that Deng shot 38% from 3pt range last season, 40% in 08/09 and 36% in 07/08. He is a legitimate threat from 3pt range and will only get better with the addition of Boozer and the continued improvemet of Rose and Noah.

I would like to see the Bulls make a serious run at trading for Melo. That being said I would want Rose, Noah, Boozer, Korver, Gibson and Asik as untouchables in a possible deal. While I do not expect much from Asik this season, he will be huge in the future as a back-up for Noah once he deveolps his strength and stamina.

Look our team is fine already but no one has any thoughts about what we could do to get Carmelo and have a Big 4 (Rose, Carmelo, Boozer, and Noah)?

    Dj August 21, 2010 at 6:15 pm #

    @ Matt Steigenga

Melo will not come to Chicago, if we have a better chance of landing Lebron James this summer, then what makes you think we have a chance of landing Melo. (hint: he is planning on going to NY)

Plus Lebron James is a better all player then Melo since he is a ball hang scorer.

No thanks I past on Melo, I would rather keep Deng or trade him for Rudy Gay. At least with Gay we will have more youth, defense and more energy with his amazing dunks lol.
