Free Agent Watch: Is Chris Bosh a good fit for the Bulls?

Short answer: Heck yes.

Now for a longer answer. ESPN’s Tom Haberstroh wrote a long analysis of which teams make the most sense for soon-to-be free agent Chris Bosh. Unfortunately, you need an ESPN Insider account to read the whole thing. Here are the Bulls-related parts:

First the set: “Teams with All-Star point guards in the fold will extract the most value from Bosh. In fact, according to Synergy, Bosh had more success finishing the pick-and-roll than screen virtuoso [Amar’e] Stoudemire this past season. Bosh shot a staggering 81.4 percent on field goals resulting from rolls to the rim, a conversion rate only bested by [Dwight] Howard. And keep in mind, that’s without an ultra-creative point guard to distract the defense off the screen. Ideally, Bosh’s future team would also feature an athletic shot-blocker who can flank him inside and protect the rim. The 6-10 power forward will surely welcome the opportunity to upgrade from Andrea Bargnani on that end as he has never had a defensively focused partner down low.”

Hmmm. Teams with an All-Star point guard and an athletic shot blocker…sound like anyone we know?

Now the spike: “Chicago will make a strong run at both LeBron and D-Wade, of course. But should the Bulls fail to land either guy, Bosh would be a perfect fit. In fact, in one way he’d even be a better option, in that he wouldn’t take the ball out of the hands of budding point guard Derrick Rose. Plus, Joakim Noah is exactly the type of big who’d fit perfectly next to Bosh. ‘If the Bulls threw the kitchen sink at Bosh,’ the source said, ‘it would make more sense with the makeup of their team.’ And it would be worth every penny.”

Bosh isn’t a certified superduperstar like LeBron James or Dwyane Wade. Obviously, if the Bulls can get one of those guys, they have to do it. But barring a superduperstar pickup — and we already know Wade is almost certainly staying in Miami — Bosh really is the best possible fit for the Bulls. He can score, rebound and would (unless I’m missing something) probably work amazingly well in tandem with Rose.

I’m not sure I think Bosh makes the Bulls a contender right away, but a three-man core of Rose, Bosh and Noah…that’s a 50-win team right there.

Wow this guy is talking a whole lot of smack then comes back to correct his mistakes! Read over what TRM3 said about gasol dude! if i recall it was something like “Gasol has NEVER been a Nobody” which means, in simpler words for you, he has always been a great player even before the Lakers!

Are u illiterate DJ? I didn’t say Pau was a nobody..matter in fact u said he was a nobody then became good. My point was Pau Gasol was never a nobody..he’s been a good player. Did u understand that? Seriously man, check ur reading before opening ur mouth.

    Just for u..

“As for David Lees or Rudy GAY they are awesome players, so shut your mouth about them. For example look at what Pau Gasol did for the Lakers, at first he was a nobody like David Lee and Rudy Gay and now he is a winner with the right team. And I think David Lee and Rudy Gay mate be the right guys for the Bulls.”

wow the love for the game is strong by all the comments but can we just focus on the team at hand that being our CHi bulls . this is gonna be a tough year to get who you want not saying that the bulls should settle for just anybody yet we need to be realistic and have plans A,B,C, and D,E if needed to get our team to the championship and win it our players wont stay young forever the goal is to win now while they are ripe for winning and running and playing hard up and down the court we are a fast team which means we need fast players, also we are become hard and physical which means we need simular type of players also we are in need of a pure shooter for the low, plus a inside scorer for mid range price if he plays D that is a plus but he must fit what we have here already the bulls are maybe 3 good not great players away from being a major challenger for the whole thing, set yr sights not on big names but big time players that will help our team this is and should be are only focus I think there are a lot of so called 2nd tier players that will fit nicely with the bulls also maybe even 3rd tier they don’t have to be the top tier to help the bulls win a ring, I hope the bulls go after two maybe three players for all the money they got to spend and not just one cause there is no I in team therefore one man cannot do it all by himself we need at least 8 to 9 good to great players on our team to win a ring. Bullls fan for life . Peace

also the bulls have this years picks and two first next year they may want to just send them all to someone for a player swap which can also not only get them help but improve the payroll for the cap to help with the getting of help for the core which I see as Deng, Rose , and Noah ,kirk and Gibson I have not gave up on James J but he can be traded if got the right player also I liked what I saw from acie law if we could sign him for the low why not Joe alexander is a bust no need to say anymore about him. if miller were to come back and take min I would like that but only for min.players the bulls should look at are almost everyone with what they have to work with trade wise and money and picks I know there are some untouchables but the ones that are not and could help those are the ones the bulls should consider via trade.

I am sorry what was that now Max I mean Trm3 and Bull23 lol? Dude seriously! again with your different account names? I am not stupid Max. (I know it is you!)

And you know what is funny? and I am the one with made up people like reggie, BoppinBob, Bill Thomas, Andres Lopez and others? When the only account that I use is my own name: DJ (meaning myself dumb ass!) I don’t need to make up people like you Max, I have better things to do.

But I will play along just to make you happy Max I mean Bull23. How do you know Max I mean Trm3 was being sarcastic when he said Gasol is a nobody? I never once seen you post a comment until now, ever since I treated Trm3 I mean Max (the same person lol) NIce try again with your no comments

And I did call Gasol a nobody in Memphis, until he was traded to the right team which was the Lakers dumbass! MY BAD, I GUESS YOU WERE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND MY COMMENTS TRM3-BULLS23 I mean MAX! lol)

Wow! again you guys are fighting Max and DJ?

By the way Max I am not control by Dj, I am my own person and I told you that already.

And I understood what Dj was saying about “Gasol being a nobody. from his previous comments:

“For example look at what Pau Gasol did for the Lakers, at first he was a nobody like David Lee and Rudy Gay (He was referring to a team that did not win championship)

and now he is a winner with the right team.” (the Lakers) I get it.

He said if the Bulls get David or Rudy Gay they mate turn out like Pau Gasol right DJ?

And I understood that Trm3 was being sarcastic when he said:
“Btw Pau Gasol has never been a nobody. He’s been a good player, the Bulls tried for him remember?” I guess so Trm3?

In other words both of you guys are dumb for fighting over stupid things.

I agree with you guys Max power, Bill Thomas and Reggie but Trm3-Bull23 I mean MAX!!! lol won’t shut the F**k up! He thinks his IDEAS are the best one’s and everybody else ideas are stupid.

Just when I said I along time ago, that I think we should go after Rudy Gay and David Lee if Lebron James does not leave Cleveland (which he won’t leave) and right away Max said that is a stupid idea! we should only focus on the Lebron James nobody else and if we can not get him we should just give-up and wait until next season blah blah blah blah blah….

In other words, Max see it like this: if Lebron James does not leave Cleveland we are F**k! and it is the end of the world and I don’t see it like that, I see other options out their that can also improve our team like a plan B, C, D ect.

DJ how old are you? you act like a 12 years old. Focus on the BULLS! Leave your other issues out of it.

I think first we should wait and see how the draft unfolds, maybe the bulls do somethings unexpected that no sees coming which would help them in their courting of this years top free agents.

DJ I’m not taking sides, but you’re making an idiot out of yourself. Please stop. You’re obsession with Max is quite obvious and it’s fairly creepy.

As far as your point goes, it isn’t very good. Look at the past champions of this decade. Every single teams had AT LEAST two all-stars in their prime who could score the ball. Lakers, Celtics, Spurs and Pistons all had that. None of those teams were considered very deep. All you heard this year was how crappy LAs bench was. If Lee and Gay want to take 3 mill a piece, sign em but that aint happening. Team full of roll players will not win you a chip.

  14. reggiemcglory@yahoo.com'
    reggie June 23, 2010 at 6:45 am #

1)we have one maybe two stars on the bulls one being Rose the other being Noah, yet if we package deng and kirk and taj we may have a solid team meaning those three equal one star yet if the bulls manage to sign lets say a rudy gay or a jj reddick or a david lee they can compete and at a very high level. when these bulls are healthy they give the best teams a run for there money add a little depth to this team and see what happens I think the results will be good maybe even great just depends on how they fit with the rest of the team and the one who said get Tmac stop it he is done . We only want players that can contribute on the court. ppl you best wake up to the reality that we may not make a big splash far as the names go but yet we can still get the players we need to contend and win and not just a playoff series. the ball is in our court now in my eyes we have nothing to lose less we trade it away and everything to gain lets not lose focus of what we already have here now. Peace

I was doing so good in ignoring DJ.

I got what u were saying DJ but Pau was good in Memphis too..not just when he got to LA. Ok, I’m done with that.

    Next..

Reggie..u wanna trade most of our core for what?? U wanna get rid of Deng (Who I’m down to get rid of) Kirk, and Taj..out of the six guys we have signed for next season u wanna trade three of them??

  16. m_nazabal@yahoo.com'
    Max June 23, 2010 at 5:23 pm #

I really like Noah. I like him a lot…..but he is going to be an Elite defensive player in this league not a Elite Superstar. His offense will improve but not to a dominating point. The bulls need another dominant scorer who can create his own shot. Not just a high Pct jump shooter.

Trm3 just leave it alone man. I am trying to ignore him. The points he makes never make sense and he is obsessed with the idea that we are the same person. Oh well.

I’m looking forward to July 8th. I hope we sign people early and if we trade Hinrich at the draft then that might be a good sign. I like him but we need the cap space.

I am also not taking sides but I think Max, Trm3 and Bull23 you guys are the ones making yourself look like idiot as well. Dj ideas are not that bad if you guys think about it. Personally I think Rudy Gay and David Lee are great role players that the Bulls can use. They mate not be great players like: Lebron, Bosh or Wade but, we can get these 2 guys for the price of 1 Super Star Player like: Lebron James. And who know maybe D.Rose and J. Noah will be great player like Wade and Bosh you never know. I am not saying Dj ideas are the best ones that I heard but they are not bad. So please people stop fighting and let focus on the BULLS!

I think it would be a great move to go after Carlos Boozer. In my opinion, he is the most complete big man in this years class.

And about Wade coming to Chicago, I would say we have about a -.45% chance of acquiring him.

Btw good post Mike Jackson but u misspelled “may” for “mate”..I’m assuming u wanted to say “may” cause “mate” wouldn’t have really gone with what u were saying..it’s ok though, I got what u were saying..DJ always misspells that word too. Odd?

Nevermind, only 8 days away from all the fun. Oh, there’s the draft tomorrow as well but it’s not like the NFL’s so I really can’t get into it. Well, except last year’s cause I wanted Rose and not Beasley.

    Klee451 June 24, 2010 at 3:23 am #

I think that Sam Smith has been lobbying for Joe Johnson because SG is the Bull’s weakest position. Kirk is a heady player but a conference-final-type team is not going to have him as starting SG. Bosh is a strong upgrade over Taj but leaves the SG position hanging.

You have to at least make an effort for Lebron, DWade
& Bosh – you can build around them, but JJohnson makes the most positional sense.

Getting Bosh covers a number of problems the Bulls had last year:

1: a low post player how can score down low, shoot a mid-range jump shot, grab rebounds and defend.

    2: Length against bigger teams.

3: A player teams have to plan against on offense.

He would definately help the Bulls get to the next level.

I really don’t care for LeBron’s personallity, but if he can help the team win, I guess I will tolerate him… kinda like when Rodman joined the Bulls and won a championship

  32. hova June 24, 2010 at 10:42 pm #

bosh and a scoring sg is what the bulls need…. and sign law and murray for off the bench… maybe add david lee in the mix…

  33. hova June 24, 2010 at 10:44 pm #

i would like the bulls to swing a trade for somebodys sg or someone making less money… they need a sg like a ray allen type or maybe even ray allen! im kinda against getting two max free agents cuz we gotta pay rose and noah in a couple still!!
