Free Agent Watch: Chris Bosh continues to flip flop

More free agent “news” from Chris Bosh’s Twitter page: “Just to be clear. I never said that I’m not considering staying in Toronto.”

Well then…I’m glad he cleared that up.

Of course, the key word is “considering.” So…he never said he’s not considering staying. Can’t you just feel the love in that statement? I’m sure that’ll put the mind of every Raptors fan at ease.

Other than throwing the Toronto fan base a rather passive aggressive bone, could Bosh have another angle?

Frank Zicarelli of the Toronto Sun believes he does: “Maybe Thursday’s omission [from the All-NBA teams] reinforces the widely held theory that Bosh, while good, is best cast in a subordinate role playing alongside a dominant player. Bosh views himself as a franchise guy worthy of max money, which is why he has expressed a willingness to work side by side with the Raptors in a sign and trade. Regardless of whatever tweet gets posted by Bosh or any misinformation circulated by misguided media outlets, people should not lose sight of the fact that a change for Bosh and the Raptors is what’s necessary.”

I agree with Zicarelli. It’s nearly impossible to imagine Bosh sticking with the Raptors (or vice versa) after all these shenanigans. Besides, after Bosh leaves, the Hedo Turkoglu / Andrea Bargnani era can really get underway!

Sorry, Toronto fans.

If Bosh wants to be the #1 man somewhere – that place is Toronto. He can’t expect to go many places and be the ‘main guy.’ NY and NJ have bigger fish to fry, I can’t see Wade leaving Miami, and Chicago has Rose. That leaves the Clippers or maybe Wizards, but if there is a sign and trade available to go back to his homestate, Texas, Dirk and Duncan have the honors… I guess Rockets could be a sleeper? This guy needs to get a two-seat saddle for that High-Horse.

If we throw max money at Joe Johnson this summer…especially after what he has done (read: hasn’t done) during the Orlando series…I might have to douse myself in gasoline and light a match. There’s no way J-Pax can justify signing Johnson long term for a shit-ton of money. There just isn’t. In the words of Han Solo: “I’ve got a bad feeling about this…”

    MANU, ROSE, DENG, BOSH, NOAH

(Not that I am in the bigger hurry to have him on the team, but I wonder if the VDN situation has colored his view of any potential of coming to the Bulls. I can say, our assist numbers would be through the freaking roof.)

    (((curious: Joe Johnson or Manu?)))

How about none of these players: Manu, Joe Johnson, Ray Allen, Boozer, Amare Stoudemire, D. Wade or Bosh. People lets be realistic here again by getting: David Lee, Rudy Gay, Kelenna Azubuike, Anthony Morrow or Kyle Korver. We would still have a stronger roster with these players b-cuz of D. Rose and J. Noah improvements.

I agree, can you guys image the Bulls having this
    Starting lineup for 2010-2011:

    PG: D. Rose
SG: K. Hinrich or Anthony Morrow or Kelenna Azubuike
    SF: Rudy Gay
    PF: David Lee
    C: J. Noah

    Bench:
SG: K. Hinrich or Anthony Morrow or Kelenna Azubuike
    PF: Taj Gibson
    SF: James Johnson
C: Bulls 1st round draft pick (in case B. Miller leaves)
F: Bulls 2nd round draft pick (if he is not traded with Deng for the Rudy Gay)
PF-C: Brad Miller (to a 1 year contract) or Chris Richard
PF-C: Omer Asik (from the previous draft pick with D. Rose)
    SF: Joe Alexander
    G: Acie Law

Why the talk of Manu?? He just signed a 3 year extension with the Spurs (Spurs like to keep their main guys)..Spurs are getting old, I don’t see Duncan playing much longer. He’s dropped off and he dropped fast (that was a sidebar), lol

Outside of Wade or Bosh..I know one thing for sure, I want Rudy Gay for Deng.

  13. rbittmann@gmail.com'
    Russell May 10, 2010 at 1:04 pm #

Rudy Gay isn’t a significant enough upgrade over Deng to have them both signed for big money. Trading Deng for Gay is a lateral move. I think you live with Deng/Johnson at SF and try to improve at SG or PF.

David Lee doesn’t excite me very much either, but unlike Gay/Deng, Lee is a significant upgrade over Taj.

    inkybreath May 10, 2010 at 1:39 pm #

Schwoops. I forgot about the extension. Honestly, I was just going with the four-letter thing. Wordplay supercedes all governance.

Honestly, let’s look at the Bulls Past Summers:
When have they EVER done anything of VALUE while signing over the summer? I don’t think they’ve had ONE big name other than Ben Wallace. And Look where signing all of these mediocre role players have gotten us? To the second round of the playoffs at most since 1998? Awesome track record.

By the way, Every time the Bulls say theyre gonna make a splash in free agency (A year before the free agency period begins) They have done nothing…Think 99 in the lockout season where we lost 75% of our core and were abysmal, or When we were supposed to get KG, KOBE, PAU Gasol, Boozer, or Amare?

These players that we’re going to be offering have already had negotiations with the Bulls before, and look at the results, the Bulls Management haven’t done jack with any of the Assets the Bulls have had.

I think it’s time the Bulls started signing us a few Big names while they’re still available because well, if they dont work out in the playoffs…at least you still have 82 reg. season games to watch ’em torch all year.

Also, if we get a starting lineup like the post from Bill Thomas, I’ll become a BUCKS fan because that sounds HORRIBLE.

We need to make a HUGE signing at either PF or SG and then make a mediocre signing at the position we don’t fill with a league leader.

    ROSE, Kirk/WADE , Deng, BOOZER/Gibson, Noah

Rose, Kirk/Korver(need them 3 balls), Deng, AMARE or BOSH, Noah

  16. Ryan May 10, 2010 at 6:45 pm #

    @chris,

I liked your post, but the previous negotiating was pre-Rose. Now we have a solid Noah, a healthy Deng, and some good rookies for a sales pitch too. Rose will be a main focus for luring a FA, but there will be a ton of competition to weed through.

F Lu! His softness is of a rare breed. It’s mathematically and anatomically impossible for Gay, or any other breathing living human being for that matter, to have less heart.

I hated the pick. Then, I became a fan because he showed promise. Fools gold. What I saw as a kids potential was actually him peaking…at like 20. smh. I overrated his length. His limbs are actually too long. I’m sure he’s caught hell in the weight room, and has vowed to never go back. work = force x distance. so, he’s maxing out at like 115 lbs. It takes way too long for him to coordinate a move to the basket, which gives the defense time to get in his way and force him to go to one of those “what the hell? I was totally expecting something a bit more athletic” super-soft layups.

The jumper. The iron core to Lu’s gold-plated game. Just before each of his injuries, he is hitting that mid-range jumper. And, that’s why we want more of him after each injury. But, nobody’s stopped and asked the question: Why do we so highly value a guy whose game is so weak that he has to master the dumbest shot in basketball just to be effective?

Actually, none of my gripes with Lu are his fault, except maybe his failure to hit the weights and eat a steak or two. Most of it’s just his make-up. So…F Pax!

Honestly Russell now your the 1 on crack, lol Rudy Gay wouldn’t make a great upgrade over L. Deng position are you nuts??? Hint: He is an explosive scoring machine when he is on fire, he is also a good defender and he is another go to guy player in late games to help D. Rose and Chris your also nuts with your dumb ass roster idea, trust me its not going to happen either. Be realistic Dude!

    i see joe johnson as a bust….
bulls should sign wade for a 5year/110M
    if he leaves miami

top 5 teams;free agents should sign with

1 clippers(they have baron davis, griffin, kaman, eric gordon)(need small forward to dominate the west..good thing is that they have enough to sign two top free agents…)

    2 thunder(durant,westbrook,Harden)(need big man)

3 bulls (noah, deng, d-rose) need shooters and inside scorer…bad news is that they can only choose either one…unless they chase boozer and ray allen instead of one top free agent…they also need to let go of captain kirk…trade him and a pick for david lee…could work….
4 heat (wade, beasly, chalmers) not much
    5 nets (lopez,c lee, d-harris)
6 knicks (wack) pices of the puzzle that dont even fit to anything,,,but have a ton of money….

  22. Jimmy Atencio May 21, 2010 at 2:41 am #

Bosh should go to the nuggets for nene an j.r. smith. Nuggets need a big man that can score consistantly. Bosh would be a good fit with billups, anthony, and k mart.
