Derrick Rose is headed to the Philippines after all

ESPNChicago’s Melissa Isaacson writes:

“Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose boarded a plane from Los Angeles to the Philippines on Wednesday to take part in a two-game exhibition series this weekend, according to a source close to Rose. … Sacramento Kings star Tyreke Evans will also be part of the contingent, according to the Sacramento Bee. … The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant and New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul also tweeted about being on their way to Manila to take part in the event.”

I’m not a big fan of unsanctioned exhibition games involving players from the teams I follow. I’m sure — well, pretty sure, anyway — that the players involved won’t be going full tilt or anything. I mean, it’s just a couple of exhibition games, right?

Still, considering Rose recently admitted his body was breaking down by the end of the season, and given the fact that Joakim Noah hasn’t recovered from an ankle he sprained back in March, I’d really rather Derrick spent his summer laying low, practicing, resting, and preparing for the next season.

Assuming there’s going to be a next season.

Why take a chance on getting hurt in a exhibition game and you are the best player on your NBA team.

You don’t need to worry our local players will have their mouth open and eyes sparkling wide just to see their idols posterize them.

There is a reason Kobe keeps coming back here. lol!

Rose has just a good of chance injuring himself practicing as he does scrimmaging. After all how can he practice without playing.

So Derrick Rose is in the Phillipines next season’s preperation because he and the Bulls have always known the 2011-2012 season will start on time no matter what, especially when this is the NBA, second to the MLB as the U.S’s all-time pasttime.Gotta have basketball and baseball no matter what. GO BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!

I know you want him to lay low, but you know he is going to practice up until the league resumes. He probably took the first 3 weeks off to heal up, but now is not the time to be resting on your laurels. Now is the time to be channeling your anger from losing into passion and practice.
