Fan on the street: Part 2

Category: Fan on the street — Tags: , , , – Matt McHale @ 8:26 pm

Welcome to the second installment of my ongoing series, Fan on the street, which features real people from the Windy City telling me (and, by extension, you) how they really feel about our Chicago Bulls.

Question: What do you think about Ben Gordon cursing at Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro for fining him? (Gordon was fined for being late for a team flight.)

Answer: “I think Ben Gordon is an [expletive] anyway so it’s not shocking. It’s ridiculous and very disrespectful that he would curse out his coach for something I’m sure he knew about in advance, but like I said, he’s an [expletive].” ~Letise Lawson, Office Manager

On the cutting room floor: When informed that I would be editing her colorful description of Ben Gordon, Ms. Lawson said: “I thought [expletive] had a nice ring to it, but if you must.”

  1. I don’t understand why you have to censor her. Do you have advertisers you have to appease? Are you trying to make this a family friendly site? Cause I don’t think anyone under high school age (if that) is reading this site. Why not just put the asterisk in? Did she say fuckhead? Shithead? Asshole? If she said “Cunt” I’d be surprised, but censoring masks the true meaning of statements.
is this because you’re now affiliated with truehoop?
keep up the great fucking work (that was not meant to sound sarcastic).

  2. JJ — Well, actually, it was meant to be funny. She got all worked up, said what she said, and when I jokingly told her I’d have to edit her, she was like, if you must. Eh. Guess I didn’t get the humor of the moment across very well.
