Shortly after trading Luol Deng the flood gates holding back all of the rumors about the Chicago Bulls were opened. We were treated to talks of Kirk Hinrich and Mike Dunleavy being on the trading block and teams actively pursuing both players. Time to add another name to the list: Taj Gibson.
According to Joe Cowley at the Chicago Sun-Times:
“And while Hinrich and Mike Dunleavy have been churning in the trade rumor mill for more than a month, Taj Gibson’s name is the one that is picking up, and could determine how serious the Bulls are in clearing space for a max contract to land the likes of a Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James.
According to a source, the Lakers, Wizards and Bobcats have each inquired about Gibson, but they were preliminary talks in which the Bulls did not like the return.”
With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, it’s no shock that a Chicago player is involved in a trade rumor, particularly Gibson. On a yearly basis we’ve been treated to trade rumors involving Gibson in some capacity yet none have come to fruition. Due to the lack or other reports it may simply be that the Bulls front office is doing their jobs and fielding calls about Gibson to be thorough but are not actively looking to trade him.
I would hate trading him unless we are absolutely guaranteed a superstar and would still hate it then.
