How about a slight tweak!
Magic acquire Deng & Pick
Chicago acquire Nelson, Afflalo & Nene
Wizards acquire Boozer
What do u think?

I agree that Nelson is essentially an expiring free agent. But that’s why I included the draft pick in there. If you’re the Magic and you’re rebuilding if you can get a draft pick for what is essentially an expiring, I think you take it. And while Afflalo is a bargain right now there have been many reports over the summer and some persisting today that indicate that he’s not in their long term plans and that they’d like to part with him (likely b/c they have Oladipo). I agree Chicago probably isn’t the kind of deal they would ideally want (they have tried to trade Afflalo for Eric Bledsoe in the recent past), but an expiring deal as large as Deng’s is attractive none-the-less. I dont think they would given Hennigan is a decendant of the OKC front office, but in theory with Deng’s expiring contract and the amount of cap space they’re already guaranteed to have, they could make a run at a couple of the big name free agents this offseason and finish their rebuild if they traded for Deng’s expiring and a pick. I made this giant long paragraph just to say, the incentive is there

But you’re absolutely right about the Bulls front office and money… unfortunately.

Also, Bulls front office would never take the financial hit this proposal would entail especially with the new luxury tax rules.

Bulls messed up not acquiring Afflalo when the opportunities presented themselves and he is now flourishing in Magic, another mistake from a trigger shy front office
