I agree with you that trading Taj or Asik for Mayo would’ve been a bad move. Obviously the Bulls thought so too. As was made clear in the loss to Toronto, the Bulls aren’t going to win many games when they simply try to outscore the other team. Defense is the main reason the Bulls are where they are now, not offense. Giving up either of those guys would seriously impact the Bulls defensively.
@everyone that’s not impressed with Asik and wanted to see him traded-
In case you haven’t notice, a lot of teams are asking about Asik in a trade. Hmm… I wonder why.. I mean, he is only a rookie, still learning the NBA style of play. Well enough with the sarcasm, the kid is raw talent with incredible potential. He may not be putting up big stats right now, but he will be a legitimate starter in a couple of years. Right now, his game is mostly defense and rebounding, but he has shown flashes of his offensive potential. Even right now, his defense, his lateral quickness, and his athleticism, rebounding and IQ is better than most centers in the league. These are abilities that sometimes can’t be taught, either you have it or you don’t. Asik has these abilities already. What he’s missing he can be taught because the foundation is there. That’s why so many teams lacking a big are so interested in him. Asik is definitely a keeper!
]]>But according to multiple league sources, the Bulls aggressively pursued Grizzlies shooting guard O.J. Mayo, offering Ronnie Brewer, two first-round picks and one second-round pick.
guess they tried….
