Maybe now that Tyrus Thomas is back from injury and Derrick Rose is becoming the player everybody thought he would be, the Bulls will live up to the potential they showed in last season’s exciting first round playoff loss to the Boston Celtics. Nice subtle “Ghostbusters” reference. I almost missed that one.

Bigs who can hit the three have a reeeeeaaaly long shelf life (Sam Perkins, anyone?), even when they become a liability in the paint.

Honestly, I couldn’t watch the 3rd overtime. I watched the game on my DVR and fast-forwarded through timeouts and such, and I was just so exasperated and worn-out that I just fast-forwarded through until I saw “final” next to the score. This game was that draining emotionally. I can’t imagine what it was like at the UC!!

Speaking of the UC, a friend of mine in Chicago said that he got tix at face value on Bulls.com or Bulls.net or w/e the day before the game. Did that game not sell-out or something? How is this even possible?

With that said, I am beyond happy that we won that game last night…it’s time to finish up the job and it won’t be easy at all.

With the league suspend Rondo? Of course not. He has realized that he can do whatever he wants in this series; whether it’s driving coast to coast for a layup , headhunting Brand Miller, or throwing Kirk Hinrich into the scorer’s table. He’s just playing the game the way they let him play.

I’m happy that Rose was able to make that block, but I’d like to see him do that every time Rondo thinks about shooting the rock…and please, no more wild passes in traffic. Good job, other than that.

Salmons…the kid’s got onions.

Noah…I used to HATE this kid when he was at Florida. Now, I love him. Best thing to happen to the Bulls in a long time. Ty Thomas on the other hand…

Shout out to Brad Miller for the redemption. I wish he would have swatted Rondo’s head off at some point during the game, but oh well.

Anyone notice that KG didn’t have much to say this time around?

Time to finish the job and send these dudes fishing. Let’s go Bulls!

Matt – please devote at least half of your future posts to Princess Bride references, analogies, or comparisons so that never again will someone be forced to admit they haven’t even heard of the Princess Bride.

Maybe not, but that story is almost as unbelievable as this series.

I love the blog (and bawful) but could you cool it with the Princess Bride references? I’d never even heard of that movie until I read this blog. It feels like you mention it every other post. How about you have a quota of one Princess Bride reference every fortnight?

Because otherwise…well, I’m most likely going to have to give in and see the movie.

Keep up the good work.

Even though he didn’t have a good game, and he did force some crummy shots, he also did quite a few good things as well. First off, he drove to the hole a few times in the first half and had some great dump down passes for easy looks. BG of Games 1-5 didn’t do that at all. Second, while his defense wasn’t remarkable, I felt he was feistier than normal and he was battling. Some ticky-tack fouls really hurt him mentally (kicking water coolers) and the Bulls physically (he couldn’t play more than 30 minutes). And yes, it is possible that Ben’s foul situation was a godsend in disguise for the Bulls, but that is not why I am writing this.

I saw something from Ben Gordon last night that I never expected and that I am truly impressed with. When he got his technical and his world was coming crashing down (along with the Bulls season), he didn’t give up on his team. Did you see him on the bench? He was cheering like Aaron Gray. When the refs were looking at Ray Allen’s foot-on-the-line 3-pointer, Ben pushed his way into the circle with the three refs and reviewed the play with the Joey Crawford Extraordinaires in attempts to sway them for the Bulls. Keep in mind he had fouled out just minutes before. At the end of the game, Ben ran up to Salmons and bear hugged him and wouldn’t let him go. I love Ben Gordon and everything he brings to the table as a player, but I was truly shocked to see his positive spirit AFTER his mini-meltdown and foul out situation. Did you see Perkins, Big Baby, and Pierce after they fouled out? They moped around like they just lost a significant other. I think Davis was actually crying on the bench (I’m not kidding). Pierce stood away from some of the huddles. Gordon, on the other hand, took on a motivational/leadership role, something that we haven’t seen from him before. He could have sulked and cried and pouted like the Celtic pansies did, but he didn’t. He found a way to help his team win, even though he fouled out.

Does he take crazy and sometimes selfish shots? Yes. BUT it’s obvious that he cares about his team, his teammates, and winning. He is not a selfish person. He proved that to me last night.

Antz — Well, they absolutely should, if they’re going to stay consistent with the precedent they’ve set many times before, most recently with Dwight Howard. But my gut tells me that they will not, mostly because, as noted the other day, David Stern is a businessman, and it’s just not good business to suspend Rondo for what could turn out to be another classic Game 7. They league will totally cop out on this one, I can almost guarantee it.

Scott G — That analogy is perfect. I feel the same way. Like, on my own time, Vinny makes me frickin’ crazy. But when “outsiders” start to lay into him, my feathers start to ruffle.

Loop — Question answered. And thanks!
