Dunkside-

Leaving Marion wide open and daring him to shoot 3's isn't a great idea. He proved in PHX that he CAN hit uncontested 3's, and Calderon is a good enough PG to find him behind the arc.

Salmons would be the guy to try and guard the Matrix, but he of course was hurt and wasn't effective.

I would say that a better matchup for the bulls D would be Miller on Bargnani, Tyrus on Matrix, and Noah on Bosh. That puts speed(marion) on speed(tyrus), size(andrea) on size(miller), and T-Rex(noah) on Raptor(bosh).

bballdude --

That's what happens when Ben Gordon and DRose are in the game together...it creates mismatches on defense. I'd rather have a lineup of Rose, Hinrich, Salmons, Tyrus, Miller to end the game because you can hide one poor defender, but not 2.

The problem was defense the whole game but there was also some selfish play throughout the game. TyThomas jacking a fadeaway jumper with 12 seconds on the shot clock in an OT possession, a couple of 2-on-1 fast breaks where BG doesn't pass the ball, his horrible shot (before the game tying shot) in regulation, the play where he dribbled on the wing for 10 seconds and then jacked a bad shot in OT. I'm a little biased against BG because I'm not a big fan of one-sided players, but he is really playing for his own stats before free agency.

the dumbest thing vinnie did, and the reason the bulls lost, was having tyrus come help in the paint leaving bargnani open. result: bargnani 3-6 from 3p range, 10-20 overall.

i'm not saying tyrus doesn't make mistakes on D, but this happened so often that if he was doing it on his own, he would have been taken out of the game by vinnie.

it felt as if tyrus did not know how to defend bargnani. i suppose the coaching staff forgot to teach him that. he must have been told so many times to stand under the basket (especially by skiles) that now he seemed afraid to go out on the 3p line.

i would have had noah on bosh, tyrus on bargnani (and instructed him not to leave bargnani whatever happens in the paint) and miller on marion. have miller defend marion only in and around the paint. dare him to take the 3p shot. then to complete your big line-up play rose and salmons with gordon coming in when either of them needs a breather. you get less offense, but then you get much better D and rebounding. just my 2 cents.
