Little late to this game, but Noah's problems (listed in this recap) all boil down to one thing: he hasn't been getting the tip ins and put backs he has in the past. Those are high efficiency shots, so that is why his shooting percentage and near ri, shooting percentage are both down. This missing efficiency also explains the drop in his PER and Win Shares. And of course those missing tips are missing rebounds.

Of course, as pointed out in this post, his defensive rebounding is down too. So I suspect his positioning and boxing out has been subpar so far; and since Jo's most efficient offense has been put backs, this really hurts his all efficiency stats.

To me, the good news with this is that Noah is so far below his career norms in rebounding, and yet is playing better in all other areas (passing, taking guys off the dribble, jump shooting, post play, shot blocking)-- you have to expect some reversion to the mean. If he can get his rebounding, and especially his tip game, back in gear while staying at the same high level elsewhere in his game, he will earn an All Star nod.

Just another thought on Noah's numbers. He is averaging just 9.0 rebounds per 36 minutes, which is the lowest of his career and down from 11.6 rebounds/per 36 last season. Over his career he's averaged 11.4 boards/per 36 minutes. And it seems to be his offensive rebounds. This is the first time in his career that he is averaging less than 4 offensive boards per 36 (he's currently at 3.5).

That wasn't a foul he got there and went straight up and down. He didn't bring his hands down either. I agree with Luol that he should have at least thrown the basketball at the rim I don't know how he lost the ball.

Lets face it if it was a superstar (like Rose) that would be a posterizing dunk and a win with an and 1.
