I think on truehoop, they were talking about how Rose's legs going back when the ball goes back predisposes him to landing awkwardly and risking injury if bumped when landing, but it's also obvious that the "C" shape is necessary if his arms are both going back behind his head for the slam to keep his center of balance from rotating. It's also worth noting that bringing the ball back (in this case) kept the slam from being blocked, so it's not all "risky foot-injury prone" showmanship.

But watching the FIBA WC's this summer let me see a LOT of Kevin Durant dunks and you can see that he's not doing anything nearly as risky because his long arms let him get up really quickly without really jumping much for the quick two-handed flushes.

BTW, I may not have mentioned it, but this is truly a dunk-contest-worthy dunk. Elevation, extension, it's all there and it's just freaking awesome.

On a more personal note, I love that PG's in this league are getting really athletic; sure I love watching it, but I directly benefit from getting to have serious dunkers in video games. Back in the day, I'd have to dish it off from J-Kidd or Kevin Johnson to the SG so I could get a manly slam instead of a weak-kneed fastbreak layup. Not blaming the players, just happy that sim-style games are forced to acknowledge that PGs can dunk like monsters these days.
